Let's talk about Ranger....

Who is Ranger? Ranger is a 11 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound that was born in my first ever walker litter. His mother Eden blessed me with 13 puppies and she raised every single one. The litter had 7 boys and 6 girls. This litter produced two AKC champions, 1 AKC pointed, and 3 UKC champions. So needless to say it was a very nice litter. And then there was Ranger. With every litter I have what is called a "puppy party" where puppies are evaluated based on temperament and structure and ranked. Ranger was 7 out of 7. He has a head like a wedge of cheese, a cathedral front that you could hold mass under, and he was super dark. No big deal I had a friend who wanted a puppy and Ranger was perfect for him and his girlfriend. Time passed and my friend was moving and couldn't take Ranger with him. Per my contract he was welcome to come home, and come home he did. He was neutered, reactive, and an overall pain in the rear. He is still here in my kennel because of his reactivity I never felt ok placing him in another home. The biggest thing about Ranger is that he reminds me that not every dog I produce is a show dog and that improving your program is a never ending goal. Ranger is happy, healthy, and his favorite toy is a whiffle ball bat. He serves as the official uncle to the puppies and takes his role very seriously.
